The case of the missing documentation

UPDATE: Looks like this has been fixed; please disregard.

  1. Open browser to Bing
  2. Search for SPWeb (or your favorite class from the object model)
  3. It is very likely that most of the results from MSDN will point to the 2013 version of the documentation:image
Notice the URL doesn’t specify a version
  4. Click the link and end up at the 2013 version of the documentation
  5. Try to find the 2010 version:

Notice that the only other version readily available is Windows SharePoint Services 3

Where is the 2010 version?

You can actually get to it if you click the Windows SharePoint Services 3 link and then change the v= parameter in the URL to office.14:

Congratulations, you’ve found the SharePoint 2010 version of the documentation! What’s more, this page actually provides links to both the previous and next version:

I for one am not yet doing enough 2013 work that I need quick access to the 2013 documentation… Oh how I wish Bing would send me straight to the 2010 version of the docs. I guess I’ll have to get in the habit of including “2010” in my search string…
